The motherboard’s IO is packed with all the current gen ports you may need, it includes eight USB 3.0, four USB 2.0, a Gigabit LAN, a USB 3.1 Type A and Type C, 8-Channel Audio, a Bios Flashback button and a Clear CMOS button.

ASUS has included eight PWM fan headers, two Aura 4-pin RGB headers, eight SATA 6G ports, one M.2 socket, and four DIMM Dual Channel that can support up to 3200MHz DDR RAMs. It also offers great support for water cooling system. With its W_PUMP+ connector, AIO_PUMP connector,  W_IN header, W_OUT header and W_FLOW header, it gives you all the information you need to check your cooling system.

ASUS Crosshair VI Hero supports NVIDIA 2-Way SLI Technology and AMD CrossFireX Technology. It has two PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots, a PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot and three PCI Express 3.0×1 slots.

Based on our experience, onboard audio is usually not great compared to using external DAC or sound card but we were impressed by the sound quality coming from the onboard audio of Asus Crosshair VI Hero. The motherboard’s audio chipset is the ROG SupremeFX High Definition Audio CODEC S1220 and it has 8 Audio channels.
