Windows Mixed Reality Headsets Going to Support Steam and Halo VR

Microsoft and 343 Industries to bring Halo to VR?

Microsoft just delivered some big news on its blog speaking to its mixed reality initiative for Windows 10. All of those affordable VR headsets that are coming from Microsoft’s hardware partners and of course will not just be used for gimmicky Windows 10 interactions, but actual gaming as well. Microsoft also iterated that it will also support Steam content and will run on Windows mixed reality headsets. Interesting.

“Virtual reality enthusiasts know that Steam is a great place to enjoy cutting edge immersive experiences. We can’t wait to bring their content to you,” Microsoft says.

Microsoft was careful with its statement, saying that its partnership with 343 Industries will “bring future Halo experiences into mixed reality.” We are hoping that it will bring a much richer VR experience considering that Steam support is also on the roadmap, we’re hoping for the best of its release.

Hardware Choices

Mixed reality PCs will consist of desktops and laptops with integrated graphics. They also say that it will run at 60fps when plugged on these Microsoft devices.

For the best experience, mixed reality Ultraconsistl consists of desktops and laptops with discrete graphics. Like the normal setups, which is still unknown, though Microsoft is promising an immersive 90fps.

Pricing

Microsoft also revealed that these headsets will be competitively affordable, with headset and motion controller bundles this coming holiday starting at $399 from HP, Lenovo, Dell and Acer. They will be also compatible with existing and new
